Making Waves – Bringing Ideas Forward

Let innovations in the field of water and energy inspire you at the location of the Seinwezen in Haarlem on June 20. Participating innovations compete for pitching their idea on Making Waves on September 7. A professional jury selects two winners. The audience chooses the third winning pitch!

Dutch innovations for a sustainable world

Numerous innovations and ideas exist which can contribute to societal challenges. However, many of these innovations do not reach implementation. That’s a shame. Making Waves helps these innovations to make progress. The event on September 7 offers inspiring innovations an international podium to pitch in front of an audience of decisionmakers, policymakers, experts and among others Kofi Annan. The winning pitch of this day will proceed in competing in the finals of the Ideas from Europe 2018 competition.

Energy from water

With the increasingly visible consequences of climate change, the transition from fossil fuels to a sustainable energy mix becomes more and more important. Innovations that generate energy from water can contribute to this challenge. Synergos Communicatie is communication partner of Making Waves and organises a qualifying round on June 20 where innovations in the field of water and energy can pitch their idea. The three winning pitches proceed to have a chance of giving a presentation during the Making Waves event on September 7. A professional jury judges the pitches and selects two winners. The audience votes for the third winning pitch.

The professional jury consists of:

  • Inge Lardinois, head of department programming water policy of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment
  • Cornelis Israel, adviser knowledge- and innovationmanagement water at Rijkswaterstaat
  • Cora-Yfke Sikkema, councilor sustainability, management & maintenance and mobility of the municipality of Haarlem
  • Andre Oldenkamp, independent adviser De Ruimte Advies

The following innovations come to pitch on June 20 and compete for participating on Making Waves: Slowmill, Ronamic, Fishflow Innovations, Bluerise, Dynamic Tidal Power, Energising Deltas, Tocardo, Teamwork Technology and Boskalis.
